RMG Director 2_edited.jpg

The Decatur Avondale Children’s Choir is under the direction of R. Mark Green. He holds a
Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education from the University of North Georgia in Dahlonega, as well as
two Master’s Degrees in Music and Education from the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in
Louisville, Kentucky. With over 40 years of experience in choral directing, he is an active member of
both the American Choral Directors Association, the Chorister’s Guild, and Polyphony. Affectionately
known as “Mr. Mark,” he recently retired from his position as a pastor at First Baptist Church of
Decatur. Mr. Mark and his wife, Cindy, have been residents of Avondale Estates, Georgia, since
2006. They have two married sons, two wonderful daughters-in-law, and four precious
grandchildren. In his free time, he enjoys photography, reading, traveling, stamp and coin collecting,
and spending time with his grandchildren.
